• Overview

We are proud to advise that Scott Carmichael from our Melbourne office and Thomas Murphy from Sydney have been rated first and fourth in a survey ranking the nation’s top 50 financial advisors.

Conducted by The Australian newspaper in association with investing publication Barron’s, the stated goal of the survey is to “bring attention to financial advisors whose skills, passion and commitment consistently deliver positive outcomes for their clients”.

The formula used to rate the advisors has three major components: assets under management, revenue generated by the advisor’s team, and the overall quality of the practice. Both Scott and Thomas attribute their top rankings to our collegiate approach, which enables them to back their own ideas and strategies with the knowledge of our entire advisory team.

Their success in the survey attests to the depth of our investment process and, first and foremost, the value of working with our clients as partners. Client satisfaction was a key criterion in the ranking formula, and we recognise that the peace of mind and loyalty of our clients is critical in our striving to be Australia’s leading wealth advisory firm.

Barron’s, a respected investing magazine that has been published in the US for 96 years, has been rating the top financial advisors in America since 2004, with the results considered a powerful industry bellwether for standards of client care. For individual investors, the rankings are seen as an independent and impartial tool that can help them in the process of finding financial guidance.

This year, in conjunction with The Australian, the survey was conducted in Australia for the first time. From more than 200 nominations, the top 50 advisors were selected and ranked by an advisory board comprising professionals from across the financial industry, including asset managers, consultants, and executives at banks and independent advisory firms.

You can read more about the survey, including an interview with Scott Carmichael, in the July issue of The Australian’s monthly business magazine ‘The Deal’ or download the pdf here.
